Alfred Hayes (1911–1985) was a British screenwriter, television writer, novelist, and poet, who worked in Italy and the United States.


"In the summer of 1936, Al Hayes met Earl Robinson at Camp Unity, a Communist party retreat near Wingdale, New York, where as staff members they prepared musical and theatrical entertainments, as well as campfire skits and sings [sic]."
